How I'd judge a matched betting site
No hype, just five things I can check on a public page:
- Price: what the entry plan costs monthly and annually, and whether it's listed up front.
- A free way to try it: a trial, and whether it asks for payment details.
- Getting your money back: a refund window and how to claim it.
- Honest claims: a "no guarantee of results" disclaimer and income claims you can treat as marketing.
- Who's behind it: a named company.
What I can't check from the outside is how good the odds matcher or the support is day to day, so I won't rank on those. Read recent independent reviews for that.
The options side by side
| Option | Entry price | Free way to try | Money back | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free route (this site) | £0 | Everything is free | n/a | People happy to find offers by hand |
| OddsMonkey | £39.99/mo or £249.99/yr (Starter) | Free trial, no payment details (help centre) | 14 days on the first payment | Starting with no card details |
| Outplayed | £29.99/mo or £249.99/yr (Platinum) | 7 day free trial | 14 days | Cheapest monthly of the big two |
| Profit Maximiser | £97 + VAT (£116.40) one-off (per its refund policy) | £1 for 14 days, then £96 + VAT unless cancelled | 30 days on the £97 + VAT option | Lowest listed up-front cost |

1. The free route: this site plus a bookmaker and an exchange
You can matched bet with no subscription at all. You open a bookmaker account for a sign-up offer, open an exchange account, and use a calculator for the lay stake. The matched betting calculator and free bet calculator do the maths and show the numbers. Offers are listed on the bookmakers' own sites. What you give up is time and the matched-odds finder.
If you've never done this, start with what matched betting is, do one offer by hand, and see how it feels. Paying for software before you've done a single offer is hard to justify, because you can't yet judge what it would save you.
2. OddsMonkey
The service I started on in 2017. On 22 October 2026 its entry plan, Starter, was £39.99 a month or £249.99 a year, with the 14-day money-back guarantee and no contract. Its help centre says the free trial doesn't need payment details, and walks you through two sign-up offers. Higher tiers add casino, +EV tools and specialist finders, up to £3,000 a year for Elite, which is not a place for a beginner.
My caveat is the obvious one: I'm an affiliate. That's why the OddsMonkey links on this page are marked as ads. Read my checks on whether it's legit and the free trial.
3. Outplayed
Outplayed's entry plan, Platinum, was £29.99 a month or £249.99 a year, with a 7 day free trial and a 14 day money-back guarantee. It's £10 a month cheaper than OddsMonkey's monthly entry plan, and the same price annually. It names the same operator, Liquidity Trading Limited, as OddsMonkey. Full comparison: OddsMonkey vs Outplayed.
4. Profit Maximiser
Profit Maximiser's homepage says it has been "pioneering matched betting software since 2009" and has 100,000+ paying customers. Its own checkout page lists a £1 trial for 14 days then a one-off £96 + VAT, cancellable by email, and its refund policy says £97 + VAT (£116.40) comes with a full refund within 30 days. I haven't confirmed whether the one-off covers all updates or tools, and its cancellation is by email, so read the checkout page before you pay. It's the one I know least about, which is why it's last.
Lewis's take
I started with OddsMonkey in 2017, and later used Bookie Bashing's tools too, for each-way betting and shop runs. Everything else on this page comes from the services' own public pages, not from hands-on use.
Who should pay, and who shouldn't
- Don't pay yet if you haven't done a sign-up offer. Do one by hand first.
- Try a trial if you did one and want faster offer-finding. OddsMonkey's trial doesn't need payment details; Outplayed's is 7 days; Profit Maximiser's is £1.
- Pay monthly if you're unsure you'll last. Annual saves money only after about 7 months on OddsMonkey's entry plan, or 9 on Outplayed's.
- Don't pay for the top tiers if you're a beginner. The £150-a-month tiers are for people who already know what +EV means.
FAQs
What is the best matched betting site in the UK?
There isn't one that is best for everyone. For most beginners I'd start free with this site's calculators and the guide, then try a service's free trial before paying. OddsMonkey's help centre says its trial needs no payment details, Outplayed's monthly entry plan is cheapest of the two big names at £29.99, and Profit Maximiser lists the lowest up-front price I found.
Can I matched bet for free without a subscription?
Yes. You need a bookmaker account, a betting exchange account and a calculator. Everything the subscription automates (finding offers, matching odds) you can do by hand: it takes longer. My free guide and calculators cover the maths.
Is a matched betting subscription worth it?
It depends on how many offers you'll do. The first sign-up offers are a lump of one-off money, so a month or two of the cheapest plan can cover itself. After that, a subscription is worth it only if the time it saves is worth more to you than the fee. Do the trial, then judge.
Is Outplayed the same as OddsMonkey?
Both sites name Liquidity Trading Limited as the operator and they're sold as separate services at near-identical prices. I can't say the tools are identical. See the head-to-head.
What about Profit Maximiser?
Profit Maximiser says it has been around since 2009 and has 100,000+ paying customers. Its checkout page lists a £1, 14 day trial and then a one-off £96 + VAT unless you cancel by email, and its refund policy covers 30 days on the £97 + VAT (£116.40) option. I haven't confirmed what's inside each membership, so check before buying.
Do I need a lot of money to start?
You need enough to cover the bets you place at the bookmaker (qualifying bets) and the exchange liability on each lay. The maths on this site shows the number for each offer. Most of it comes back as the offer completes, but not all of it is ever "free": there is a small cost on each qualifying bet.
Do you earn a commission from these recommendations?
From OddsMonkey, yes. I'm an affiliate, and it's the only affiliate link on this site. I have no affiliate links for Outplayed or Profit Maximiser.
